Story
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page!
I have just completed an an adventure of a lifetime!
With a team of ten others, I have participated in Uniting World's project to provide education to underprivileged girls in the Amritsar region of Punjab, India. I have visited several small villages where the project has enabled girls to start an education for the first time in their lives and has empowered women to access services to which they are entitled.
Our team is aiming to raise $75 000 to fund the project for one year. So far, donations received will fund the project fro six months. Your donation will help provide teaching aids, nutritious food and teachers' wages for several communities (read more at http://www.unitingworld.org.au/programs/relief-and-development/relief-and-development-programs/asia-projects/india-education-for-disadvantaged-children/.)
After the project visit, I undertook a five day trek in the foothills of the Himalayas, starting from Dharamshala, the home of the exiled Tibetan government. The trek was fantastic with views of the mountains, walking through small villages and swimming in ice melt streams!
Whilst the 'challenge' is complete, I still need to reach my target of at least $7 500.
